I've been Framed

Back in May, I wrote that I was available. I was skittish about full-time work after watching how my last client treated the people who worked hard building their product. I said I would only consider it for a company that treats their employees with dignity.

I found one. After a four-week work trial (that included an offsite to Cancún), August 11, 2026 was my first official day at Frame as Engineering employee #16.

Why Frame

I talked to a lot of companies over the summer. The hiring process is broken AF but that is a blog post for another day. Frame was not that. Frame stood out for a few reasons.

  • The people. Every conversation I was chatting with people who just enjoy their work, their ability to do the work, and they genuinely want to see the company succeed.
  • The problem. There are a lot of legit businesses that want to do business online but the regulations have not caught up to them yet. Through software, we are enabling those companies to do business online in a compliant way alongside customers they can trust.
  • The craft. We care about how things are built, not just that they ship. We actively fight AI slop. We fuck up but we hate when we do and know we can do better. It's a dojo mentality. Add bonus points because the CEO still writes and reviews code.

I am excited about the stage at which Frame is at. We are a small team and I love that. We can do a lot and move fast with a small team. Especially with this team.

What this means for my company

This is my first W-2 stint, minus a jaunt in 2015, for two decades. I have been a consultant in one capacity or another since 2006.

Brilliant Fantastic is not going anywhere. The consulting work is paused, but the projects and this blog are not. I am going to focus on the things I am not good at like marketing and sales. If I make a good product and no one knows about it, was it ever in the woods? (something like that).

Currently working on:

  • Tatsu, a project management tool inside Slack. It has a larger install base and geared towards teams.
  • Mixtape is a passion/art project.
  • brrr -> an experiment based on what I have seen at a half-dozen companies now. More coming soon.
